One of the most popular and endearing children’s classics comes to life onstage in Frances Hodgson Burnett’s The Secret Garden. It tells the story of “Mistress Mary, quite contrary,” a neglected and disagreeable little girl who, after finding herself orphaned in India, is sent off to live in a gloomy castle in England, occupied by her widowed and miserable Uncle Archibald Craven. But as Mary begins to wander the castle grounds, the fresh air and exercise begin to make her less “contrary” and, most powerful of all, the discovery of a hidden, neglected garden rouses her curiosity and a desire to discover its secrets and nurture it back to life. A timeless and beautiful story about personal growth and healing, not only plants and flowers, but yourself and the friends and family around you, don’t miss The Secret Garden at the Majestic!
